Building Foundations · Restoring Hope · Sharing God’s Love

Every family deserves somewhere to turn at two in the morning.

Foundations of Love is a faith-guided ministry strengthening children and families through dependable, compassionate care. Our first program, Haven of Rest, is overnight childcare for parents whose shifts begin when the rest of the world goes to bed.

Incorporated April 2026. Haven of Rest is in development and not yet open.

Why we exist

The gap opens at bedtime.

A parent takes the overnight shift because it pays more, or because it is the job that exists. Then comes the question no one has a good answer for: who is with the children from eleven at night until seven in the morning?

For many families the answer is a patchwork. A relative who is already tired. A neighbor who is willing until they aren’t. An older child carrying more than a child should carry. When the patchwork tears, a parent loses the shift, and sometimes the job.

Foundations of Love exists because that gap is not a small one. Children should not spend their nights somewhere uncertain, and parents should not have to choose between working and knowing their children are safe.

“Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.”
Psalm 127:1 (ESV)
A night at Haven of Rest

Staff are awake throughout the night, every night we are open.

Most childcare closes when the second shift starts. Haven of Rest is being built for the hours after that. This is the program flow we are developing — a sample routine, not a fixed timetable.

  1. Arrival and evening transition

Parents check in and each child is welcomed by staff, washes their hands, puts their belongings away, and settles into the space at their own pace.

  2. Evening meal or snack

Every child is offered evening food service with age-appropriate variety. Children eat at an unhurried pace, with conversation among peers and staff, then wash their hands afterward.

  3. Staggered bedtime preparation

Children are taken through bedtime preparation a few at a time: bathroom, changing into sleepwear, personal-care needs, and handwashing.

  4. Quiet wind-down

Books, drawing, puzzles, quiet table activities, and soft conversation — unhurried choices that help a child come down from the day.

  5. Group story and bedtime

The children gather together for a story and a peaceful transition toward rest.

  6. Rest

Lights down. Children who arrived earlier may already be asleep by now.

  7. Rest and continuous supervision

Children rest while staff continue to supervise and monitor them throughout the night. A child who wakes is met with a calm voice, not a closed door.

  8. Wake, dress, and personal care

Children wake according to their own sleep needs, then get dressed, take care of bathroom and personal-care needs, wash their hands, and gather their belongings.

  9. Breakfast

Breakfast together, with time for conversation and a calm start rather than a rushed one.

  10. Departure

Children are made ready for school transportation, bus pickup, or a parent arriving from their shift, with timing adjusted around each family's departure schedule.

Times overlap because children do not all arrive at once. A child who arrives at nine may be settled and asleep while another is still eating. This is a tentative sample routine, not a rigid schedule. It may be adjusted to support children’s individual sleep needs, family arrival and departure schedules, and childcare guidance.

What we are building

One program now, a family ministry over time.

In development

Haven of Rest Overnight Childcare

Licensed overnight care for children from birth through age 12, built around the schedules parents actually work. Real sleep, a routine that bends around a child’s rest, and staff supervising all night.

Family support and future programs

As the ministry grows, we intend to add resources that help families thrive between crises: parenting support, practical help, and connection to what already exists in our community.

Where we are headed →

What holds this together

Love
Every child is met as someone worth delighting in, not a slot on a schedule.
Compassion
We start by understanding what a family is carrying before we ask anything of them.
Service
We build what families actually need, in the hours they actually need it.
Integrity
We say what we will do, we do it, and we tell the truth about where we are.
Hope
We work as though tomorrow can be steadier than today, because we believe it can.
Prayer
We ask for God's guidance before we plan, and we keep asking. This ministry rests on prayer as much as on effort.
An invitation

Help us find a home for Haven of Rest.

We are searching for a building that can safely hold sleeping children from birth through age 12, with room to grow. If you own property, lead a church, or simply know of a space sitting empty overnight, we would love to hear from you.
